Thuppakki is a Tamil-language 2015 Indian mystery thriller film directed by Balaji Mohan and written by Jaideep Sahni and Abhiraj Minawala. The film stars Ajith Kumar and Amy Jackson in lead roles and features an ensemble cast consisting of Prabhu, Hansika Motwani, Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, Manikandan Rangarajan, Priya Anand and Alexx O'Nell among others. The film was announced in August 2014 when Ajith Kumar made his comeback to the Tamil film industry. The film is jointly produced by Ajith's father, producer Pandiarajan. The official trailer was released in July 2015 and received widespread positive response. The film opened in September 2015 to mixed reviews, but due to positive word of mouth the movie underperformed at the box office. Deva (Ajith Kumar) is a police officer who lives with his parents (Durgamma and Nalankilli Gopi). His father loves him very much and he cares about Deva even though he has taken up an important assignment abroad for his job. When Deva was in his mother's womb, she and her husband had to face a big accident in their lives. The woman in the other vehicle died and it was believed that Deva's mother was dead. It is then revealed that his mother was actually alive and the body in the other vehicle was of a different person (this information is given to Satheesh (Prabhu)). His father pretends not to know this secret to Deva. He only tells him that when he was born, his mother went missing and he has been trying to find her ever since. Anjali (Amy Jackson) is an investigative journalist who gets into some trouble when she runs into a dangerous situation while working on her latest story. Deva meets her at a bar one day and she is impressed by him. When he reveals that he is an investigative journalist himself, she gets excited and invites him for lunch. After lunch they realize that they are both looking for the same person. They agree to work together as Deva promises not to reveal her identity as a journalist. The story then takes a twist when Anjali's friend (Yogimithu Prakash) who is also her boyfriend asks for her help in finding his missing two sisters after seeing Anjali and Deva together and learns of their doings so far. It is later revealed that he too is looking for his sisters. Deva asks Anjali to tell him about her life, but she refuses as she isn't ready to reveal her secret yet. But they agree to meet once a week and talk about their lives. She also gives him the address of the bar where they first met and suggests that he tries asking other people about his mother. Deva tries this method at other places without success and ends up getting beaten up every time. He eventually meets Tina (Hansika Motwani) who tells him that his mother's address is in the US; Deva decides to go there but before leaving, he decides to meet Anjali once more. cfa1e77820
